Of Madison Creek, WV
Maggie Z. Maynard, 85, of Madison Creek, went home to be with Jesus Saturday, May 15, 2010, from Logan Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born May 5, 1925, at Gilbert, a daughter of the late Sidney and Nancy Carter Hatfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James Blunt; and one daughter, Melissa Gail May.
Maggie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. Maggie was a Christian who served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for many years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 65 years, Bernard Maynard Sr. of Madison Creek; five sons, Donald (Dorothy) Ellis and Bernard (Maggie) Maynard Jr., both of Lyburn, Douglas (Donna) Maynard of Lexington, NC, Sidney Russell (Naomi) Maynard of Henlawson, and Robert (Kathy) Maynard of Linwood, NC; four daughters, Vivian (Richard) Perry and Glenda Sue Bartram, both of Lyburn, Lena (Tommy) Adkins of Man, and Misty (Kenny) Thompson of Whitesville; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; several brothers; one sister; one special person who was a friend, a caregiver, and a part of the family whom she loved very much with special thanks, appreciation, and love to Jennifer Spaulding of Madison Creek; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. John T. Vance officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be family.
