Once in awhile a young man in this case two young men, cross paths with a “father type influence”… Jody was definitely that!!!
It’s 1998 and me and my best friend was getting careers going underground on the maintenance side of the industry. JJ took a position at RAMA Coal and soon after I followed him!. Jody had his hands overloaded with us both needles to say!
We were young, eager, mischievous but willing to be taught and learn. We soaked up everything and anything Jody had to offer, like a couple ole sponges.
Was they times he wanted to run over us on his way home in the mornings while we walked to the truck? I’m sure they was, hahaha. But I know for sure he laughed more with and at us young boys than he did anything else!
I seen worry in his eyes some nights for us, as we had lunch together.
But with his teaching early in in our careers, out of that pile of childishness, came myself, a mine foreman and miner for 17 years and what a company considers more than a chef, but the cog of their operations in JJ (electrician)
Jody I’m sure I speak for me and JJ both when I say Thank You!
Family we are both sorry for the loss of such a mentor, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend.
May the good lord be with you all as a family for duration of such a tragic loss, we pray comfort to each and everyone of you.
