Brenda Kay Rakes
Of Davin, WV
Brenda Kay Rakes, 70, of Davin, went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, December 17, 2020, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center, after a short illness.
She was born on March 4, 1950, at Switzer, the daughter of the late Walter Harry Rakes Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Ruggles Rakes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Louise Ruggles; and her sister, Donzil Lucille Toler.
Brenda Kay was a faithful member of the Pathway Church of God for the last 25 years. She enjoyed spending time with her two daughters and her grandchildren. Brenda Kay was a 1968 graduate of Man High School. After graduation, she became a nurse’s aide and worked at Logan General Hospital until her marriage. Brenda Kay will be deeply missed by all who love her.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Donna Hager and her husband Paul of Mallory and Jennifer Belcher and her husband Jeremy of Davin; six grandchildren, Patrick Wiley and his wife Tiffani of Robinette, Cameron Wiley of Davin, Amanda Wiley and her boyfriend Austin Cook of Davin, Jenna Wiley of Mallory, and Zoie Belcher and Gavin Belcher, both of Davin; two great-grandsons, Braylon Dotson and Beckem Wiley, both of Robinette; one sister, Linda Keller of Davin; one brother, Walter Harry Rakes Jr. and his wife Shelia of Davin; her best friend, Charlotte Walker of Christian; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Mallory Church of God.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Mallory of God with Rev. Shawn Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery at Christian.
Pall bearers will be Jeremy Belcher, Paul Hager, Austin Cook, Patrick Wiley, Cameron Wiley, and Gavin Belcher.
