Obituary of Robert Bruce Lewis

Robert “Bobby” Lewis

of Amherstdale, WV

   Robert Bruce “Bobby” Lewis, 67, of Amherstdale, went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, May 23, 2019, leaving from his earthly home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

   He was born on October 20, 1951, at Braeholm, the son of the late Luther Virgil and Virginia Helen (Childers) Lewis.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Sam and Gladys Cook; and two nephews, Steven West and Bryan Perry.

   Bobby was a 1970 graduate of Man High School.  After graduation, he began his career as a coal miner.  He worked for 33 ½ years at various coal mines before becoming disabled.  Bobby was a proud member of the UMWA local 8454.  He played men’s soft ball for many years in the Triadelphia Men’s Softball League.  He also coached Little League Baseball; coaching the Little League Reds and the T-Ball Astros in the early 1980’s.  Bobby was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals fan.  He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  Bobby gave his heart to the Lord on May 19, 2019.

   Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Sherry Lynn (Cook) Lewis; one son, Robert Bruce “Strikie” Lewis, Jr. and his wife Shannon of Man; two daughters, Leigh-Ann Lewis and her fiancé Demmie Workman of Amherstdale and Barbie Lewis Parsons of Logan; four grandchildren, Brennen Lewis of Logan, Devin Lewis of Amherstdale, Sydney Lewis of Man and Katie Grace Parsons of Logan; three sisters, Joyce (Larry) Brohard of Hurricane, Eva Jane Lewis Perry of Wayne, and Julie Lewis Daniels of NC; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Max; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

   Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services at the funeral home also.

   Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Roland Cook officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

   Pallbearers will be family and friends.
