Roger W. Cline

Of Emmett, WV

Roger W. Cline, 68, of Emmett, went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, leaving from his earthly home, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on November 5, 1950, at Emmett, the son of the late James Jay and Esther Morgan Cline.

In addition to his parents, those waiting to greet him at Heaven’s gate were one brother, James (Jimmy) Vance; and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Vance and Leonard “Bug Dust” Canterbury.

Roger was a 1968 graduate of Man High School.  He was a shop electrician and diesel mechanic at Mountain Laurel Coal Company at Sharples.  Roger was a member of the UMWA local 7555.  He was devoted to the Lord and was a member of the Claypool United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir and the United Methodist Men.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling.  Dedicated to his family, Roger was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend in Christ.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Violet Morgan Cline of Emmett; two sons, Darrell D. (Elizabeth) Cline of Chapmanville and their daughter, Sophia Rose Cline and Roger L. (Darlena) Cline and their daughter, Tiffany Raeleigh Cline of Accoville; a special granddaughter, Jamie Danielle Walls Gillispie of Crown; one great-grandson, Richard Dale Samson, Jr. of Crown; three sisters, Deanna Vance of Davin, Janice (Walter) Grimmett of Lexington, NC, and Candy (James Robert) Coe of Saltsville, VA; three brothers, James T. (Dare) Cline of Lexington, NC, Ronald Walls of Emmett, and Terry (Suzie) Cline of Mallory; three special sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Canterbury and Ethel Mae Morgan, both of Davin, and Sandra (Rev. Ralph) Blankenship of Ritchie County; special Bible study buddies who kept us in the Word, James and Donna Ball of Chapmanville; special aunt and uncle, Darlene and Jerry Morgan of Emmett; and special nieces and nephews; along with a host of other family, friends, and neighbors.

To those who gave their time, love and support during this journey the family would like to express our great appreciation and gratitude for their out pouring of care and compassion.  May God bless each and every one of you.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday evening at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services at the Claypool United Methodist Church at Davin.

A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2019, at the Claypool United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Blankenship officiating.  Following services he will be laid to rest in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Pallbearers will be nephews, family, and friends.

After Roger’s burial the family will gather to continue celebrating Roger’s life at the Chief Logan State Park at Logan for a balloon celebration and KFC dinner.
