Dovie Sue Lycan

Of Amherstdale, WV

   Dovie Sue Lycan, 69, of Amherstdale, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 29, 2019, leaving from the home of her sister, Anna Bell Gibson, at Wharton, after an extended illness.

   She was born March 7, 1950, at Lorado, the daughter of the late Rev. Hillard Lee and Lessie Victoria Osborne Gibson.

   Those gathered to welcome her to Heaven, in addition to her parents, are her husband, William “Bill” Lycan; one son, Arman Daniels; one granddaughter, Trista Kay Maynard; one great-grandson, Andy Maynard III; four sisters, Joann Crouse, Nellie Cook, Wilma Isom, and Delma Lee Dawn Gibson; and five brothers, Freeman, Ullie, Dewey, Roger, and Lacy Gibson.

   Dovie was the owner and operator of Eagle Eye Security for over 20 years.  She was a member of God’s Lighthouse Church where she served as a Deaconess.  Devoted to her family, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Dovie enjoyed camping, hunting, cooking, decorating her home, family get togethers, and being outside, especially with her husband, Bill.  She loved going to church, praying, and the spirit of Christmas.

   Those left to cherish her memory are seven children, David (Jane) Lycan of Wayne County, Melissa Ann Lycan and her companion, Lenn, of NC, Ella Victoria Maynard of Fort Gay, Fred Thompson Daniels of Tomahawk, KY, Ollie Kay Maynard of Amherstdale, George Washington Jude, Jr. of Man, and J.R. (Hope) Maynard of Kistler; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Bell Gibson and Judy (Delbert “Dukie”) Nichols, both of Wharton; two brothers, Rev. David (Ann) Gibson of Lorado and Rev. Calvin (Arminda “Mitch”) Gibson of Cyclone; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends.

   Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man where a service will begin at 7 p.m. with Rev. Scotty Elswick officiating.

   Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the God’s Lighthouse Church at Curtis with Rev. Debbie Price assisted by Rev. Scotty Elswick officiating.  Following services Dovie will be lovingly laid to rest in Daniels Cemetery at Curtis beside her husband, Bill.

   Pallbearers will be family and friends.
