Raymond Grimmett
Of Lorado, WV
Raymond Grimmett, 87, of Lorado, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 21, 2018, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center, after a long illness.
He was born August 12, 1930, at Sandlick, a son of the late Okie and Essie Hatfield Grimmett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred Laverne Helbert Grimmett; and one son, Kenneth Grimmett.
Raymond was a hard working coal miner for 40 years. Through the years he worked for several coal companies finally working and staying at Pittston Coal Company for 26 years. Raymond was a proud member of the UMWA District 17. When he was able, Raymond attended Becco United Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his dog, Leslie. Raymond loved going to the cabin in Richie County and spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Carolyn and Linda, both of GA; two sons, Curtis Grimmett of Robinette and Robert (Della) Grimmett of Lorado; five grandchildren, April (Michael) Creakman, Kenya (David) Mounts, Curtis Van Johnson, Kenneth Grimmett, and Shanna (Michael) Light; seven great-children, Jessica Estrothers, Brandi Creakman, Zachary Creakman, Jordan Mounts, Tanner Holstein, Taylor Holstein, and Meagan Pierson; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services at the funeral home also.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home with Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Richlands, VA.
