JoAnn Curry
Of Amherstdale, WV
JoAnn Stepp Curry, 71, of Amherstdale, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2014, at Holston Valley Medical Center at Kingsport, TN, after a brief illness.
She was born July 16, 1943, at Robinette, the daughter of the late Eli and Edna Staten Stepp.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Curry; and five siblings, Charlene Vance, Juanita Adkins, Roy Stepp, Leo Stepp and Richard Stepp.
JoAnn was a proud member of Becco United Baptist Church for 42 years, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher. She was currently employed with the Logan County Board of Education working at Buffalo Grade School as a Kindergarten aide. She loved going to church, singing in the choir and fellowshipping with her family. JoAnn was a loving mother and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Talmadge L. "Dexter" (Kam) Curry II of Clayton, NC and Charles "Tody" (Sheri) Curry of Big Stone Gap, VA; five grandchildren, Katlyn Spaulding, Eli Curry, J.C. Curry, Zeke Curry, and Grier Curry; one sister, Ruth McCallahan of GA; four brothers, James (Judy) Stepp of Robinette, Robert (Linda) Stepp of Amherstdale, Randall (Sherry) Stepp of Robinette, and Sammy Stepp of Jasper, AL; many nieces and nephews; a special friend, Kay Frye Williams of Accoville; and her church family along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014, at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco with Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Becco United Baptist Church and one hour prior to services at the church also.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Becco United Baptist Church, P.O. Box 360, Amherstdale, WV 25607.
