Wanda Louise Wilburn
Of Amherstdale, WV
Wanda Louise Hutchinson Wilburn, 78, of Amherstdale, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, in Hinesville, GA, after a sudden illness.
She was born on January 19, 1935, at Accoville, a daughter of the late Marion and Lillie Elkins Hutchinson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Garland Wilburn; one daughter, Patricia Trogdon; two brothers, Marion Hutchinson and Damon Hutchinson; and three sisters, Doris Smith, Katherine Brewer, and Lois Hutchinson.
A longtime resident of Amherstdale, Wanda worked many years caring for others, retiring in September of 2005. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The cornerstone of her family, Wanda was a woman of extraordinary strength, beauty, warmth, and humility. She was a person who encouraged her family to take chances and allowed them to make mistakes. Wanda lit up a room with her smile and laughter. Fiercely independent; generous to a fault, and the best cook many had ever known. She made the best banana pudding and chicken and dumplings anyone could ever imagine. Most importantly, she lived her life as a Good Samaritan.
She leaves behind four children, Sheila Jarrell (Rick) and Rickey Wilburn, both of Hinesville, GA; Donna Bailey (Ted) of Midway, GA, and Sharon Vance (Clyde) of Robinette; ten grandchildren, Mark Vance (Kristy) of Oceana, Kevin Trogdon (Andrea) of Summersville, Jessica Martin, Brittany Bailey, and Allison Bailey, all of Midway, GA, Amy Trogdon Gillispie (Aaron) of Hurricane, Christina Martin Ireland (SFC Michael Ireland) of Salem, OR, Sabrina Vance of WV, Petty Officer Joshua Jarrell of Norfolk, VA, and Shaunda Jarrell of Hinesville, GA; eight great-grandchildren, Deandre, Jayda, Trayvon, Saron, and Larron Martin, Cole Gillispie, Kyler Vance, and Abby Jarrell; four sisters, Margaret Adkins (Rev. Arbie) of Amherstdale, Karen Burgess of Accoville, Glenna Stout (Rex) of IL, and Gladys Hayes of Plant City, FL; two brothers, Donnie Hutchinson (Brenda) and James Hutchinson (Fannie Mae), both of Plant City, FL; sister-in-law, Ora Hutchinson of El Paso, TX; brother-in-law, Emory Brewer of Robinette; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Norman Harvey and Rev. Buddy Hager officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
