Obituary of Russell Lee Cook

Russell Lee Cook, Sr., 72, of Gilman Bottom, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 18, 2014, leaving from his home, after a long illness. He was born on September 21, 1942, at Cyclone, the son of the late Anthony and Susie Conway Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Susie Cook; two sons, Russell Cook, Jr. and John E. "Jed" Duncan, Jr. and brothers and sisters, Billy Cook, Easter "Sis" Lusk, Raymond "Coon" Cook, June Wintz, Betty Hatfield, Helen Elkins, and Myrtle Jeffrey. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 23 years, Betty Hammonds Cook; daughters, Danita (Ronnie) Cobb of Cyclone, Angie (Craig) Bradford of Morgantown, Symone (Casey) Carter of Lyburn, Debbie (Chris) Blair of Gilman Bottom, and Tina Fortuna of NC; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Cook Rowley of Oceana; brother, Roger Cook of Cyclone; grandchildren, Aaron Cobb, Hailey Fortuna Cline, Ashley, Amanda, and Ashana Cook, Dustin and Tyler Bradford, Ashley DeFlumeri, Casey Carter, II, Ethan Duncan, Tyler Duncan, Leandra Martin, Austin McGhee, and Gunner Goodman; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the Davin Baptist Church at Davin with Pastor Johnny Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Campus Cemetery at Campus. Visitation will be held from 12 – 4 p.m. at the church also. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
