Kathy Lynn Keck
Of Gilman Bottom, WV
Kathy Lynn Keck, 58, of Gilman Bottom, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 6, 2013, at CAMC-General Division, after injuries sustained in a car accident.
She was born January 13, 1955, at Logan, the daughter of Gertrude Daniels Rice of Davin and the late Charles Rice, Sr.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her uncles, Jack Daniels and Michael Daniels.
Kathy was a devoted mother and grandmother. She shared the love of God with everyone she encountered. Her life was centered on loving God and loving people, this fact was made evident by her daily actions. She entered the doors of many churches to serve God and grow in her faith. But for the past ten years, Kathy made Mallory Church of God her home church.
Kathy had been a foster parent for 15 years and has opened her home to over 80 children all who lovingly refer to her as "MawMaw". She worked for the Logan County Board of Education for many years serving the Man Area schools. She always put forth her best effort to serve others.
For her children and grandchildren she was their warrior, their rescuer, their support, their counselor, their confidant, their friend, their teacher, and their provider. She always made sure they knew that it was God who gave her these strengths and love. Kathy loved her family with all that was within her. She was a Proverbs 31 woman, scripture for scripture and word for word. There will never be another like her.
Those left to cherish her memory, in addition to her mother, are three daughters, Shannon Keck, Shawnna (Pete) Gollihue, and Amy Keck; one son, Michael Keck; grandchildren, Mattae, Tyler, and Haley Keck; one brother, Chuck (Lisa) Rice; two sisters, Toni (Les) Belcher and Renee (Randy) Smith; and nieces and nephews, Les (Selina) Belcher, Jeremy (Jennifer) Belcher, Charlie (Charlena) Rice, Kayla (Josh) Smith, and Nicholas (Erica) Keck; along with a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby with Rev. Shaun Walker officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a fund for her teenage children at Kathy's Kids at Logan Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 200, Man, WV 25635.
