Obituary of Richard Fredrick Belcher

Richard Fredrick Belcher Of Accoville, WV Richard Fredrick Belcher, 59, of Accoville, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, from Logan Regional Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 30, 1954, at Logan, the son of Doris Workman Belcher Spence of Accoville and the late Richard Belcher. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy Fernandez Belcher; his paternal grandparents, Squire and Nola Miller Belcher; his maternal grandparents, Loren and Elsie Workman Cline; and his father-in-law, Grant Gambill. Richard was a coal miner who retired from Patriot Coal Company in July of 2009. He was a member of UMWA local 5850. Baptized into the Methodist faith, Richard was at peace with God. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working on cars and loved spending time with his grandbabies. Devoted to his family, he was a wonderful son, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cheryl Gambill Belcher of Accoville; his children, Doris Jean (Richard) Allen of Accoville, Lorie Ann Belcher of Summersville, Thomas Richard (Shelley) Belcher of Man, and Candace Danielle Box (Chuck) Thompson of Orlando, FL; his mother and step-father, Doris and Bernie Spence of Accoville; one brother, Thomas William (Patricia "Patty") Belcher of Bolt; his sister by choice, Wanda (Steve) Stewart of Mesa, AR; six grandchildren and one on the way, Kathy Jo Bragg , Sara Ann Simpkins, and Andrea Allen, all of Accoville, Anna Margaret Belcher of Man, and Cheyenne Thompson, Aurora Thompson, and the new baby Thompson, all of Orlando, FL; his mother-in-law, Collee Gambill of Lundale; his extended family; Jackie Wasserman and Colleen and Ricky Clark, all of Robinette, Judy and Gary Max Bowen of Princeton, Willie and Barb Gambill of Amherstdale, Tony Gambill of Lundale, and Gary Wayne and Rebecca Gambill of Foster; his best friends, Jim "Four Barrell" Holstein and Johnny and Kay Bragg, all of Accoville; several nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Man Church of the Nazarene at Man with Rev. Thomas Wiley, Rev. P.J. Tomblin, and Rev. Brian Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the Man Church of the Nazarene and one hour prior to services.
