Obituary of Irene Erwin Moore

Irene Erwin Moore Mallory, WV Irene Erwin Moore, 86, of Mallory, formerly of Man, departed this life Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 24, 1926, in Logan County, the daughter of the late Robert and Norah Lambert Erwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Moore; two brothers, Kenneth Paul Erwin and Earl Leo Erwin; and one sister, Glenna Junell Sexton Spurlock. Irene was a home maker and a member of the Logan County Genealogical Society. She enjoyed sewing and writing for the Genealogical Society. An avid reader, Irene had a keen mind for historical detail and published many historical books. For many years she published the monthly newsletter "Ancestree" that circulated nationwide. Irene received the history award from the Governor of West Virginia for historical preservation. Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Sharon Lynn (David) Cleveland of Liberty, MO, Jennifer Sue (Steve) Wilbur of Mallory, and Kathy Ann Williamson of Logan; three grandchildren, Phillip Jason (Melissa) Wilbur of Princeton, Jessica Brooke (Timothy) Gemensky of Columbia, SC, and Brenton Leo Williamson of Logan; one sister, Pauline "Patsy" Canterbury of Cleveland, OH; one brother, Tilmon Anthony (Barbara) Erwin of Albany, KY; and several nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2013, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Robert Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home and one hour prior to services.
