Raymond Lee Cooper, Sr.
Of Rich Creek, WV
Raymond Lee Cooper, Sr., 57, of Rich Creek, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 17, 2013, from his home, after a short illness.
He was born February 22, 1955, at Burnwell in Kanawha County, the son of Rosalie Bateman Cooper Toler of Rita and the late Winfield Scott Cooper, Sr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Cruiz Matthew Cooper; two sisters, Lucille Frances Marcum and Barbara Jean McCoy; one brother, Richard Cooper; and his parents-in-law, Eldon and Freda Mae Thompson Adkins.
Raymond was a retired security guard and attended Orville Holiness Church when he was able. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially the special day each week he and his mother had set aside to spend together.
Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Rebecca Adkins Cooper of Rich Creek; his children, Thomas (Mandy) Adkins of Accoville, Sally (Craig) Lamb of Rita, Gwendolyn Cooper of Freeburn, KY, and Raymond Lee Cooper, Jr. at home; nine grandchildren, Britt, Thomas, Jr., Caden, Kendra, and Cameron Adkins, Craig, Whittney, and Michael Lamb, and Becky Rae Cooper; three sisters, Denise (Danny) Perry of Chapmanville, Florence (Ray) Webb of Georgia, and Naomi McCoy of Lake; two brothers, Winfield (Connie) Cooper, Jr. of Rita and John (Juanita) Cooper of Madison Creek; one brother-in-law, Walter Marcum, Jr. of Madison Creek; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Rita Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church at Rita with Rev. Walter Hawkins and Rev. Robbie Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery at McConnell.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
