J. Robert "Bob" Rowe
Of Man, WV
J. Robert "Bob" Rowe of Man, WV passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Villages of Greystone at Daniels,
He was born December 1, 1925, at Earling, the son of the late Anna J. and George Wesley Rowe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary E. Rowe in July 2012; his brothers, Thomas and John "Jack" Rowe; and his sister, Lucille Grand.
Bob was employed by Amherst Coal Company and a member of the St. Edmund Catholic Church at Man. He also served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bob attended West Virginia University where he played football for his "beloved" Mountaineers. He was an inductee into the Man High School Sports Hall of Fame. However, Bob will be most remembered for his infectious laugh, his passion for life, wonderful sense of humor , and above all, his love for his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Sally (Larry) Wickline of Beckley, Becky (Elmer) Bailey of Man, and Susan Rowe of Charleston; three grandchildren, Larry (Kathleen) Wickline II of Beckley, Andrea Bailey and her fiancé, Seth Hoblitzel, of Charleston, and Joe Wickline of Pittsburgh; two great grandchildren, Trey and Natalie Wickline of Beckley; and his sister Peggy (Don) Chura of St. Louis, MO; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013, at St. Edmund Catholic Church at Man with Father David Glockner officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the St. Edmund Catholic Church Social Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001, or on line at www.alzfdn.org , or St. Edmund Catholic Church, 106 North Bridge St., Man, WV 25635 or a charity of your choice.
Pall bearers will be Larry Wickline II, Joe Wickline, Seth Hoblitzel, Edward Altizer, Alan Doss, and Derrick Miller.
Honorary Pall bearers are Mr. Bern Amburgey, Mr. Steve Bodnar, Mr. Gary Cline, Mr. Eddie Harrison, Dr. Thomas Long, and Mr. John White II.
