Imogene Whetsell
Of Topeka, KS
Imogene Whetsell, 92, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Davin, WV, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012, at her home.
She was born February 10, 1920, in Tipple, WV, the daughter of the late Jesse Crockett and Gertrude Hill Brooks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jesse B. Brooks; and a sister, Doris Brooks Cozort.
In 1942 Imogene married Cabel Greer at Pineville, WV and they were blessed with two children but were later divorced. She married Watson Ramey of St. Paul, VA in 1957 and they were blessed with one child but Watson preceded her in death in 1972. In 1974 she married Newton Bailey of Castlewood, VA who passed away in 1978. Imogene married Robert Whetsell in 1980 and they settled in Davin, WV where they became members of the Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church at Man, WV. After Robert's death in 1985, she continued to reside at Davin, WV until 2007 when she moved to Topeka, KS where she was cared for by her daughter, Rose Mooneyham. While living in Topeka, she attended Topeka Bible Church when she was able.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Stanley Greer of Springfield, MO and Jerry (Pat Clisso) Ramey of Norton, VA; one daughter, Rose (David) Mooneyham of Topeka, KS; 10 step-children; 6 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church at Man with Rev. Roland Cook and Brother Robert Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the church.
