Of Lundale, WV
Amanda Dawn "Mandi" Workman, 36, of Lundale, departed this life on Saturday, February 11, 2012, from her residence.
She was born March 30, 1975, at Man Appalachian Regional Hospital, a daughter of Anita Mullins Owens of Lundale and Larry (Marilyn) Owens, Sr. of Elkins.
Mandi attended Man High School her sophomore and junior years, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. While there she played on the tennis and basketball teams. She later attended and graduated from Logan High School in 1993, as an honor graduate. Upon graduation, she joined the local fire department and went on to become a paramedic. She was a former employee of the Logan Emergency Ambulance Services Authority (L.E.A.S.A.) and Stafford E.M.S. for several years. She attended Southern West Virginia Community College at Logan and received a degree in Medical Transcription from Carver Career Center in Charleston. Mandi was of the Baptist faith and had previously attended the Central Baptist Church at Holden.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Sam Mullins, Sr.; her paternal grandmother, Myrtle Owens; two aunts, Berma Jo Owens Dickerson and Anita Owens Smith; a cousin, Todd Dickerson; a half-brother, Michael Owens; and a very special cousin, Justin "Bucky" McCoy.
In addition to her parents, those left to love and cherish her memory are her beloved son, Brandon Nathan Workman at home; Brandon's father, Curtis Workman of Logan; one sister, Patti Renea Owens Johnston of Robinette; one brother, Larry Owens, Jr. of Princeton; her special grandmother, Doris Mullins of Lundale; her grandfather, Onsby (Pat) Owens of Davin; a very special friend and companion, Ray Chafin of Hatfield, KY; her uncles and aunts, Sam (Connie) Mullins, Jr. of Fall Branch, TN, Gary (Connie) Mullins of Lundale, Debbie (Randall) Harvey of Oceana, Clea Ward of Greenville, TN, Missy (Mark) McCoy of Amherstdale, and Bill (Debbie) Owens of Kistler; five nieces, Dianna Lynn Browning, Tabitha Maynor, Tiffany Ellis, Tiara Owens and Lara Owens; two nephews, Joshua Blair and John Steven Toler; ten cousins, Kim Tomblin, Samantha Collier, Addie Lackner, Kelly Johnson, Angie Plumley, Erica Toler, Catrina Weems, Ben McCoy, Michael Owens, and Kerry Lemon; and two very dear friends, Linda Osborne and Mary Pierson; along with a host of extended family and friends.
A celebration of Mandi's life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Kistler Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. John Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Friends may gather from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services at the church.
Pall bearers will be her friends from the local fire departments.
Services have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
