Of Auburn, WV
Ruth Imogene Spurlock Walls, 83, of Auburn formerly of Craneco, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 14, 2011, from her home after an extended illness.
She was born March 3, 1928, at Toney Fork, the daughter of the late Rev. Brooks and Stella Adkins Spurlock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Claude Walls; one son, Shelly Walls; one granddaughter, Nora Jean Browning; and one son-in-law, Jack Browning.
She was a home maker who loved to fish and treasured the times she spent camping and fishing with her children and grandchildren on the banks of the New River.
Those left to cherish her memory are seven children, Dreama (Elder Chester) Osborne of Auburn, Stella Browning of Clendenin, Vivian Walls of Auburn, Beverly (Earnest) Grimmett of Craneco, Shelia (Rev. Robert) Maxwell of Amherstdale, Deborah (Carlis) White of Greenwood, and Eddie (Beverly) Walls of Craneco; a daughter-in-law, Cyndy Walls of Massillon, OH; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Lundale Free Will Baptist Church at Lundale with Elder John T. Vance and Elder Lacy Cox Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Pall bearers will be Chester Osborne Jr., Larry Lay, Jackie Browning Jr., Raymond Grimmett, Troy Goodman, and Daniel Walls.
