Obituary of Sybil Ann Lovejoy

Sybil Ann Lovejoy Of Christian, WV Sybil Ann Lovejoy, 74, of Christian, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 18, 2011, from CAMC-General Division at Charleston, after an extended illness. She was born August 6, 1936, at Madison, a daughter of the late Johnny and Flora May and Troy C. and Elsie May Tackett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lou Lovejoy Doty; two daughters-in-law, Sue Ann Lovejoy and Charlotte Lovejoy; a cousin who was like a sister, Verna Barker Titus; her paternal grandparents, Effie Elbert and Lula May Tackett; three brothers, Carlos Junior Tackett, Elbert Olen Tackett, and Troy Johnathan Tackett; one sister, Daisy May Tackett Miles Sowards; and one nephew. Sybil was a home maker and a wonderful wife, and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. An active advocate of the Logan County Democratic Party, Sybil worked tirelessly for her candidates and supported them 100%. She was a member of the Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church at Man, where prior to her illness she was very active. A former member of the Triadelphia Country Club, Sybil loved to play golf and after her crippling illness she enjoyed watching golf on television. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Raymond Lee Lovejoy of Christian; two sons, Raymond Johnny (Amy) Lovejoy of Marmet and Mark Steven Lovejoy of Christian; her baby girl, Stephanie Sue (Shane) Kirkpatrick of Holden; eight grandchildren, Renea Lovejoy, Amanda Doty, Roger Lee Doty, Mark Steven Lovejoy, Jr., Samantha Marie Grimmette, David Lee Grimmette, Millard Scott Lovejoy, and Hanna Lynn Grimmette; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; her step-mother, Lucy Gay Tackett of Gordon, WI; five sisters, Sharon Edwards (Bill) Finney of Shinnston, Marcella Coyer (Steve) Richetta of Gordon, WI, Dottie Jude of Mt. Sterling, KY, Rosemary Slone Salyers Smith of Frost Proof, FL, and Juanita Sue (Larry) Carroll of Sumerico; three brothers, Edward May of Inverness, FL, Thomas (Patty) Tackett of Sumeraco, and Eddie (Donna) Tackett of Alum Creek; 16 nephews; and 13 nieces along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will commence at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man with Rev. Alvis Porter, Jr. and Brother Robert Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Lovejoy Family Cemetery at Singing Branch in Lincoln County. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
