Of Leavittsburg, Ohio
LEAVITTSBURG, Ohio — Mary M. Ellis, 75, of Leavittsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at her home with her family at her side following a lengthy illness.
Born March 10, 1936, at Becco, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Ina Withrow Gentry. Her husband, Ray Ellis, whom she married Feb. 3, 1951, preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1979. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Earl Gentry and Luther Gentry Jr.; a sister, Martha Louise Brooks, and three grandsons, Tucker J. Ellis, Daniel Ellis and Joshua Ellis.
A Warren, Ohio, area resident since 1989, she was formerly employed as office manager for the Man Motor Lodge in Man and more recently as a retail clerk at Valley View Department Store in Brookfield, Ohio. A Baptist by faith, she was a loving and devoted homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, flower arranging and rooting for the Cleveland Indians. But most important to her was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her seven children: Linda (Bud) Henderson of Leavittsburg, Sue (Leland) Tilghman of Bowling Green, Ky., Lisa (Keith) Thomas, with whom she made her home, John (Shannon) Ellis of Warren, Julie (Steve) Hooser of Roaming Shores, Ohio, Cheryl (Albert) Gross of Whitman and Marcia (Greg) Gotti of Champion, Ohio; four brothers: Walter (Dorena) Gentry, Donald (Norma) Gentry, Delmas “Jay” Gentry and Allen (MaryAnn) Gentry; 30 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon Monday April 11, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Peck’s Mill.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday April 8, at the Roberts-Clark Chapel and from 11a.m.-noon Monday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home.
