Palmer Blair
Of Kopperston, WV
Palmer Blair, 81, of Kopperston, went home in the arms of Jesus Monday, October 25, 2010 from Logan Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
He was born August 19, 1929 at Johnson Co., Kentucky, a son of the late Ross and Minnie Octavia Honaker Blair.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Elmer, Lamar, Dexter, Willard, and Tildon Blair; one sister, Rouie Faye Lucas; one son, Teddy Rakes; and one stepson, Timothy Brewer; second wife Mildred Rae Pridemore Blair.
Palmer was a member of Bible Baptist Church at Kopperson, where he also served as trustee and was known as Papaw to all the church. He a was retired coal miner and a member of UMWA. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 14 years, Alma Jean Spaulding Blair of Kopperston; his first wife Betty Curry of West Hamlim; three sons, Palmer David (Imogene) Blair of Neibert, Jackie Ray (Penny) Blair of Monaville, and Darrell Gene (Patty) Blair of Accoville; five daughters, Brenda Gail Rowe of Ravenna, OH, Christina Lea (Jimmy) Dorton of Roseboro, NC, Ernestine (Randall) Steele of Hanover, Delana Kay (Mike) Wingler of Accoville and Leona (Ed) Blair of Man; two step sons, James Carlos Brewer of Crum and Dale Brewer of Kopperston, two step daughters, Regina (Richard) Tilley of Lynco and Tracy (Ricky) Lewis of Hampton, VA; two brothers, Dallas Blair of IL and Ted Blair of Danville, VA; one sister, Bobbie Jean Scites of Woodbridge, VA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. Friday, October 29, 2010 at Bible Baptist Church at Kopperston with Rev. Earl Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the church and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
