Thelma Ruth Hinchman
Of Davin, WV
Thelma Ruth Hinchman, 88, of Davin, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Logan Center after a long illness.
She was born April 29, 1922, in Logan County, a daughter of the late Harry and Roma White Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, H.B. Smith and Robert Smith; and one sister, Gladys Smith.
Thelma was a Licensed Practical Nurse who began her nursing career at the Man Community Health Foundation. She then gained employment with the Man Appalachian Regional Hospital at Man where she worked until her retirement. Before she earned her LPN license, Thelma worked at the Mangus Print Shop where she made good use of her “green thumb” in the florist section of the shop. She was an avid gardener with a gift for producing lush gardens. Thelma was a member of the Claypool United Methodist Church for over 50 years. The special loves of her life were her boys.
Those left to cherish her memory are three children, David, Tom, and Norman; brother, Ronald Smith of FL; six grandchildren, Brant Hinchman, Summer Haynes, J.T. Hinchman, Angela Cheeks, Sean Hinchman, and Hali Hinchman; great-grandchildren, Lilah Haynes, Pryce Haynes, Tristen Hinchman, Stephan Hinchman, and Kelly Hinchman; along with several other relatives, friends, and her church family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at the Claypool United Methodist Church at Claypool with Rev. Bryan C. Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Claypool Cemetery at Claypool.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services at the church.
Pallbearers will be the Men of the Claypool United Methodist Church.
