Judith “Ju-Ju” McClellan
Of Accoville, WV
Judith Ann “Ju-Ju” McClellan, 64, of Accoville, celebrated her resurrection Saturday, August 28, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center at Huntington after a long illness.
She was born February 22, 1946, at Accoville, a daughter of the late Donald Franklin and Thelma “Jackie” Lois Hoskinson Roberts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Roberts; her paternal grandparents, Floyd and Nora Blankenship Roberts; her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Mary Johnston Hoskinson; her parents-in-law, Denver and Martha Fry McClellan; one nephew, Donald Roberts; one niece, Kristine Blevins; and one special aunt, Jan Bias.
Ju-Ju was formerly employed with the National Education Association in Washington, D.C. and retired from the Buffalo Creek Public Service District after 20 years of service in 2004. She was a member of the Becco United Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aide, loved to sing in the choir, and was the anchor and soul of her husband’s ministry. A woman of hospitality, Judy loved to cook and if you left her house hungry it was “your own fault.” A gracious lover of people, Judy talked to everyone she met and left them feeling loved.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Rev. Denver McClellan of Accoville; one sister, Lois (Bill) Batts of Oxon Hill, MD; two brothers, James “J.D.” (Barbara) Roberts of Accoville who were wonderful helpers throughout Ju-Ju’s illness and Kenny (Angi) Roberts of Deal, MD; two godchildren, Lucas Gallaher and Kelly Frye; many wonderful nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and her church family along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life and resurrection will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco with the Rev. Rick Brown assisted by Brother Doug McKee and Brother Bob Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Becco United Baptist Church and one hour prior to services.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
