Obituary of Ricky Lynn Evans

Ricky Lynn Evans Of Accoville Ricky Lynn Evans, 56, of Accoville, went home to be with Jesus Sunday, August 8, 2010, from St. Francis Select Specialty Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born January 12, 1954, at Accoville, a son of the late Printess and Dora B. Smith Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Leo and Addilee Blankenship Gilco; and five brothers-in-law, Watt “Jake” Adkins, Frederick Melvin Lawrence, Marion “Jimerson” Damron, James Terry Gilco, and John Gilco. Ricky was a retired disabled coal miner formerly employed with Pittston Coal Company. He was a member of the UMWA local 1971. A member of Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church, Ricky loved his church and attended when his illness permitted. An avid outdoorsman, Ricky enjoyed hunting with his brother, Norman. Devoted to his family, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Angeline “Angie” Gilco Evans of Accoville; four sons, Greg (Jessica) Evans of Billings, MT, John Evans of Huntington, Russell Evans at home, and Ricky (Carol) Evans of Accoville; 12 grandchildren, Brian, Alex, and Skyye Evans, all of MT, Zachary Kirby, Jacob, Shawntessa, Shyann, Samantha, Russell Jr., Addilee, and Abigail Evans, and Dora Elizabeth, all of Accoville; five sisters, Zona Marie Lawrence of Elon, NC, Mary Elsie Adkins of Amherstdale, Nora May Maynard of Huntington, and Brenda Joyce Damron and Betty Jo (David) Hearn, both of Accoville; five brothers, Norman (Mary) Evans and Jackie Lee (Katherine) Evans, both of Earling, James David (Dorothy) Evans of Keystone, Landrum (Carol) Evans of Robinette, and Billy Ray (Debbie) Evans of Kistler; special friends, Gary Bryant of Logan, Calvin (Mitch) Gibson of Lorado, and Jeff Hearn of Accoville; and many nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at the Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church at Accoville with Rev. Buddy Hager and Rev. Calvin Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church, where a service will begin at 7 p.m. with Rev. John T. Viars. Pall bearers will be family and friends. Honorary pall bearers will be Brandon Gilco, Rev. Jimmy Belcher, and Boone Simpkins. Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man will be serving the Evans family.
