Harry Smolenski
of South Point, OH
Harry Smolenski, 84, of South Point, Ohio, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010, at the Community Hospice Care Center at Ashland, KY, after a long illness.
He was born April 17, 1926, at Man, a son of the late Marion and Julia Listkozski Smolenski.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Eleanor Griffith, Josephine Napier, and Virginia Christian; and two brothers, Edward Smolenski and Harry’s twin brother, Clem Smolenski.
Harry was a retired bus driver formerly employed with the Continental Trailways Bus Line. He also retired from the Ohio State University Transportation Department. Harry was a member of the First Baptist Church at Man and a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII. In his younger years, Harry worked as Deputy Sheriff for the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and the Lawrence County, OH Sheriff’s Department.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elsie Marie Brumfield Smolenski of South Point, OH; sister, Irene Mazon of Man, WV; daughter, Rebecca Hall of St. Mary’s, GA; son, Butch Smolenski of Logan, WV; several nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Friday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man, WV with Rev. Clyde Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon Friday at the funeral home also.
