Robert Cecil “Bob” Curry
Of Davin, WV
Robert Cecil “Bob” Curry, 78, of Davin, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from CAMC-Memorial Division.
He was born March 22, 1932, at Amherstdale, a son of the late Cecil and Elizabeth Arthur Curry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Kaye Curry and Mary Ann Curry; one son, Robert Cecil “Butch” Curry Jr.; three brothers, Rev. Lewis Curry, Charles “Beet” Curry, and Talmadge Curry; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Archie Clay and Eugene and Darlene Clay.
Bob was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church at Man. Bob was a member of the Aracoma Lodge # 99 A.F. & A.M., Logan Chapter # 60, Order of the Eastern Star, Beni Kedem Shriners, the Rebecca’s, and the Odd Fellows. An outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed fishing and gardening. Devoted to his family, he loved spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Madeline Clay Curry of Davin; one daughter, Dianna (Monty) Miller of Mallory; one son, Donny Curry of Fort Myers, FL; seven grandchildren, Randall Miller of Cyclone, Gerime Miller of Mallory, Robert Chase Curry and Amber Curry, both of Millsboro, DE, and Amanda Curry, Heidi Curry, and James Curry, all of Cape Coral, FL; three great-grandsons, Chase Curry of Cape Coral, FL, and Zak Miller and Sky Miller and their mother, Kristi Miller, all of Logan; one sister, Edna Curry Harrison of NC; one brother, Raymond (Charlotte) Curry of Ocala, FL; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doris Jean Merritt of Branchland, Bonnie Donnelly of Amherstdale, Anna Gay Compton of OH, Linda Wingler of Accoville, Rev. Argie and Wanda Clay of Ohio, Rev. Freddy and Patsy Clay, Yvonne Clay, and Imogene Baker, all of Crown, Doris (Rev. Ralph) Reedy of Davin, and JoAnn Curry of Proctor Bottom; his best friend, Ray Meade of Whitman; special friends, Charles and Sis Brumfield of Davin, Junior Willis and Margaret Gunnells, both of Greenvalley, and James and Charlene Williams of Claypool; many nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010, at the Greenbranch Free Will Baptist Church at Man with Rev. Benny Blankenship and Brother Robert Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by the Aracoma Lodge # 99 and Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 6153 and American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville and DAV Post 39 of Harts.
Visitation will be held from 6-10 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Pall bearers will be Billy Adkins, Charles Blankenship, Ritchie Lester, Buddy Boy Justice, David Baker, and Bill Frye.
Honorary pall bearers will be Willie Stevenson, Ray Meade, Chris Johnson, Teddy Sansom, Bueford “Boots” Lester, Frank VanDeLind, John U. Collins, Randy Dye, and Ernest Cline.
