Mabel Bailey
Of Mallory, WV
Mabel Bailey, 88, of Mallory, went to be with the Lord and passed peacefully from this life on December 27, 2017, at Trinity Healthcare at Logan.
She was born December 1, 1929, at Landville, the daughter of the late Tilden and Anna Mae Stapleton Parsons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Sebert Belcher, Sr.; her second husband, Jay C. Bailey; two brothers, A.G. Parsons and Tilden Parsons, Jr., six sisters, Shelba Helmondollar, Vesta Herbst, Barbara Ann Linville, Genevieve Adams, Donna Bunch, and Billie Jo Alesi.
After the death of her first husband, Mabel joined the work force in 1962, first in the dietary department and then quickly rose to be the head of the housekeeping department at Man Appalachian Regional Hospital where she worked for 32 years. Achieving Housekeeping Supervisor was one of her proudest accomplishments and her immaculate housekeeping skills were also noted in her pristine home, inside and out. An avid gardener, her beautifully kept lawn and flower gardens served as another point of pride and were envied by many. Mabel also loved to bake. Her world famous Italian Cream cakes were always consumed with never a crumb left. Mabel was a faithful member of Mallory Baptist Church attending regularly until her health declined, rendering her physically unable to attend.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Sebert Belcher, Jr. of Binton, OH; one daughter, Emmalene (Roy E.) Hester of Brooksville, KY; her brother, Rev. Andrew Parsons of Gallipolis, OH; sisters, Maxine Murphy of Phyllis, KY and Judy Reitmire of Letart; grandchildren, Sammy (Jeana) Browning, whom she loved as a son, of Mallory, Laura (Todd) Wilson of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Jeff Belcher of Binton, OH; great-grandchildren, Emily Browning of Ashland, KY, Kristen Fitterer, Brandon Wilson, Nicholas Wilson, and Megan Wilson, all of Reynoldsburg, OH, Jeffrey Sebert Belcher and James David Belcher, both of Columbus, OH. Also surviving is a host of family and friends, including Juanita West, her caregivers and all the staff at Trinity Healthcare in Logan, to whom her family is forever grateful.
