Donald B. "Peco" Standifur
Of Accoville, WV
Donald Bruce "Peco" Standifur, 83, of Accoville, departed this life on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, after a long illness.
He was born August 2, 1934, in Pike County, KY, a son of the late Zack and Mabel Potter Standifur.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Standifur.
Peco was a 1952 graduate of Man High School where he excelled in every sport and whose name is now enshrined in the Man High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a coal miner for 37 years most of which was employed with Island Creek Coal Company. Peco was a member of the UMWA District 17. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, hunting, and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Loretta Lou Dillon Standifur; one daughter, Kimberly Standifur (David) Mitchell of Justice; two sons, Kevin (Donna) Standifur of Princeton and Kerry Standifur of Accoville; one sister, Janice (Jim) Bryan of Charles Town; two grandchildren, Jenny Carbaugh of Columbia, TN and Zachary Standifur of Princeton; one great-grandchild, Hannah Maynard of Columbia, TN; a very special friend and cousin, Jerry "Bucky" (Teresa) Mosley of Becco and a special caregriver, Pam Smith of Cyclone; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Deacon Bob Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Friends may gather one prior to services.
In honor of Peco's wishes, his remains have been cremated.
