Katheryn Gent
Of Davin, WV
Mary Katheryn Gent, 93, of Davin, joined her husband, Cecil, and beloved brother, Robert, in their heavenly home on Monday, October 23, 2017, leaving from her earthly home at Davin, after a short illness.
She was born August 13, 1924, at the Farm House which was the old home place at Pardee, a daughter of the late Bilton and Maude Bailey Perry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Gent; her beloved brother, Robert Perry; one daughter, Mary Gent Wrobel; one son, Gregory Gent; and one grandson, Robert Wrobel.
Katheryn graduated at the age of 16 from Man High School where she was the Salutatorian of the Class of 1941. She was a home maker and later graduated from the Appalachian Regional School of Professional Nursing at Hazard, KY. Katheryn worked for many years at Man Appalachian Regional Hospital as a Registered Nurse, a career she dearly loved. After retirement, she traveled to many religious conventions and destinations to fulfill her intense love of Christianity. She was a member of the Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church for 45 years.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Scotty (Agnes) Gent of Coco Beach, FL; one daughter, Robin Gent of Morgantown; one granddaughter, Jennifer; one grandson, Joey; and two canine fur babies, Blessed and Tiny along with several other family members.
The family would like to thank her very special caregivers, Dreamia Kilgore, Bernadine Hopson, and Hazel Goodman for their love and unlimited support in assisting their mother through her daily routine and illnesses.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
