Bobby Adkins
Of Davin, WV
Bobby Adkins, 87, of Davin, joined his wife, Icelene, in their heavenly home on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was born on May 1, 1930, in Lincoln County, a son of the late Thomas Henry and Myrtle Mae Thompson Adkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Icelene Manning Adkins who went to Heaven on October 18, 2015; his son-in-law, James "Hot Rod" Lester; one grandson, Michael Shane Lester; six brothers, Walding, James, Vermont, Ernest, Thomas "Jr.", and Donald Adkins; and three sisters, Sally Bray, Maxine Godby, and Sandra Dickerson.
Bobby was a retired coal miner and a proud member of the UMWA District 17. When he was able, he attended Mallory Church of God. He was a loving husband and a great dad who will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are two children, Bobby Lee (Karen) Adkins of Huntington and Darleen (John) Spears of Holden; grandchildren, JD (Malissa) Lester of Davin, Leigh Ann (Roger) Merritt and Rebecca Adkins, both of Huntington, and Brandon Manning of Davin; great-grandchildren, Roger Merritt III and Joseph Merritt, both of Huntington, Sarah Lester of Man, Bryce Lester and Nick Lester, both of Holden; one great-grand-daughter, Aubree Lester; one sister, Anna Mae Doczi; and two special sisters-in-law, Sandra Black and Patty Nisbet along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Donnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home also.
