Of Accoville, WV
Jowana S. Kennedy, 56, of Accoville, went to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 19, 2017, leaving suddenly from her home after complications from pneumonia.
She was born May 17, 1960, at Logan, a daughter of the late Melva Tiller Mounts and Hobert Bartram.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Elbert and Ethel Browning Tiller; one sister, Belinda Mounts Angle; her brother-in-law, Larry Barnett; and her uncle, Russell Tiller.
Jowana was a 1978 graduate of Gilbert High School. After high school, she graduated from Appalachian School of Beauty at Williamson and began her career as a beautician. She owned and operated Jowana's Touch of Beauty at Justice for several years before moving to North Carolina with her family. A Christian, Jowana was a member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church at Henlawson where she sang in the choir. Her passion in this life was her family for whom she loved to cook wonderful meals. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert Lee Kennedy; four children, Rev. Joey (Becky) Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Kristen (Adam) Harrison, and Matthew Kennedy; three sisters, Benita Barnett, Stephanie (Audie) Blankenship, and Paula (Rick) Stacy; one brother, Kevin Bartram; eight grand-daughters, Haley, Abby, Shania, Marissa, Taylor, Hannah, Jayden, and Samantha; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church at Henlawson with Rev. Roscoe Chafin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
