Franklin D. Bare
Of Man, WV
Franklin D. Bare, 80, of Man, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness.
He was born on February 13, 1937, at Ruffner Hollow in Logan County, the son of the late John and Rhoda Knipp Bare.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Miller Bare; two sisters, Thelma Lilly and Martha Wilson; and three brothers, William E., Vernie, and Eugene Bare.
Franklin was a retired coal miner formerly employed with Pittston Coal Company. He was a member of the UMWA local 8214. Franklin loved God and attended the Taplin Freewill Baptist Church when he was able. When he was younger Franklin was an avid fisherman and when he was feeling good still enjoyed fishing. Franklin never met a stranger and talked to everyone he met as though he had known them all of his life. He loved to joke around but he was most serious when he was telling people about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Those left to cherish his memory are five children, Franklin "Jiggs" (Pat) Bare of Man, Johnny Lee (Pam) Bare of Kistler, Rhonda Sue (Ralph) Police and Jonnie Marie (Mike) Conley, both of Chapmanville, and Sherry (Tim) McCoy of Byron, GA; his fur babies, Princess, his dog, and Callie and Sallie, his cats; 23 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Taplin Freewill Baptist Church at Taplin with Rev. Lacy Cox, Jr. and Brother Sheldon Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
