Obituary of Sim Brown Howze

Mr. Sim B. Howze, III of Lorado, WV Mr. Sim B. Howze III, 67, of Lorado, the second eldest child of the late Sim and Dorothy Carter Howze, went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2016, leaving from his earthly home at Lorado, after a long illness. Sim was born September 29, 1949, at Lorado. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Howze; and the love of his life, Minnie with whom he shared 30 years of his life. He was a 1967 graduate of Man High School. In 1969, he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Viet Nam War where he achieved the National Defense Service Medal 2 Q/S Bars, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) Marksman (Rifle M-16), Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Sim served his country well. He then settled in Washington, D.C. where he was gainfully employed with the Naval Federal Research Laboratory as a Certified Carpenter. Sim also held many other notable positions with construction companies until reaching his goal of entrepreneurship! Reaching his dream of being his own boss, Sim would always volunteer to help anyone in need with empathy and compassion. Those left to cherish his memory are one brother, Frederick Douglas (Greta) Howze of Temple Hill, MD; six sisters, Ella Mae (Alan) Roberson and Shelah Howze (Simon) Lumpkin, both of Clinton, MD, Brenda Howze Terry of Columbus, OH, Marlene Howze of Upper Marlboro, MD, Sonya Harris of Kistler, and Cynthia Howze of Woodbridge, VA; other extended family including a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends. You are now at peace, Brother - We Love You! A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016, at St. James Baptist Church at Kistler with Rev. Jeff Woods and Rev. Mike Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill where military honors will be observed. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church also.
