JoAnn Curry
of Elk Creek, WV
JoAnn Curry, 56, of Elk Creek at Delbarton, formerly of Accoville, went home to be with the Lord and be reunited with her angel, William Dakota "Kody" Faine, on Thursday, August 25, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 4, 1960, at Logan, a daughter of the late Roy and Christine Vanover Maynard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her "precious angel", her son, William Dakota "Kody" Faine; her beloved sister, Rose Ella "Bo Bo" Fugate; and her grandparents, Archie and Etta McComas Vanover and Wayne and Victoria Maynard.
JoAnn was a 1978 graduate of Man High School and attended SWVCC. She began her career in banking at the Bank of Man where she worked for several years before beginning employment at the Bank of Mingo. Her employment with the Bank of Mingo spanned 30 years during which time she achieved the position of Senior Vice President and made many life long friends. JoAnn will long be remembered for her sweet smile which she maintained even through the darkest days of her illness. She attended the Ajax Church of the Lord Jesus Christ at Lenore. JoAnn enjoyed traveling, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, and spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are the love of her life, her adoring husband, Warren David Curry; one brother, Donald (Debra) Maynard; four sisters, Charlene (Harrison) Spaulding, Nina (William) Marcum, Imogene (Darrell) Grimmett, and Faye (Johnny) Hanlon; a very special mother-in-law, Alpha Hall; three step-daughters, Tiffany (Stephen) Grimmett, Miranda (Wendell) Thompson, and Amanda (Sherman) Jones; six step-grandchildren, Blake Hackney, Haley Grimmett, Morgan Curry, and Chase, Cruze, and Kendall Thompson; and many nieces and nephews that she adored dearly; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Josh Hall, Rev. Albert Goble, and Rev. Lewis Hall, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Maynard-Spaulding Cemetery at Madison Creek.
