Richard Gordon Thompson
of Davin, WV
Richard Gordon Thompson, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 18, 2016, leaving from CAMC, Memorial Division.
He was born on March 19, 1948 at Logan, a son of Harold Gordon Thompson of Davin and the late Ruth Spencer.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luther and Vernie Thompson, two brothers-in-law, Ed Kessler and Mike Christian; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Johnson and Patricia "T.C." Thompson.
Richard was a 1966 graduate of Man High School and a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam Conflict. A devout Christian, Richard was a member of the Accoville United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School and Wednesday night Bible Study. He also gave of his time and talent freely to help keep God's House in good condition and was considered the right hand man of the church. Richard, with the help of his Dad, was an avid gardener and generously shared his bounty with his family, friends, and neighbors. Not only did he plant seeds in the ground, he planted spiritual seeds in the hearts and lives of others.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Andrea Booth Thompson; his father, Harold G. (Wanda) Thompson; daughter, Rebecca (Kevin) Mays; son, Richard "Richie" Gordon (Amber) Thompson, II; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Jewell Mays; grandson, Jaxon Parker Thompson; granddaughter expected to arrive in June, Paisley Brooke Thompson; brothers, H. D. Thompson and Butch and P. J. Hall; sisters-in-law, Betty Kessler, Donna (D.J.)
