Bernie Spence
of Accoville, WV
Bernie Spence, 79, of Accoville, took his heavenly flight on Thursday, December 24, 2015, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness.
He was born July 21, 1936, in Lincoln County, a son of the late James and Louella McClellan Spence.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Miller Spence; two brothers, Charley Spence and Willard Spence; four sisters, Sara Mounts, Elsie Spence, Lillian Adkins, and Norma Browning; his step-son, Richard Belcher; and his step-daughter-in-law, Patricia Belcher.
Bernie was a mechanic and co-owner of Right Fork Land Company. He enjoyed coon hunting and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Those left to miss him and cherish his memory are his loving wife, Doris Workman Belcher Spence; one step-son, Thomas Belcher of Bolt; one brother, James S. (Nancy) Spence of IN; two special nephews, Tim (Becky) Spence of Man and Willard (Pam) Spence of Taplin; step-granddaughters, Doris (Richard) Allen and Lorie Belcher, both of Accoville; step-grandsons, Tommy (Shelly) Belcher of Man, Thomas Belcher, Jr. and Jeff Belcher, both of Bolt; special kids who he adored as his own, Johnnie and Kay Bragg of Accoville, Wanda (Steve) Stewart of Mesa, AZ, Betty Campbell who he loved dearly and her daughter, Ashley who is "our jewel", both of Accoville; many other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, December 28, 2015, at the Man Chuch of the Nazarene at Man with Rev. Tim Estus officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Pall bearers will be Thomas and Jeff Belcher, Tim and Willard Spence, Thomas R. Belcher, and Richard Allen.
