Obituary of Leonard Grant Jeffrey

Leonard Grant Jeffrey, 62, of Norfolk, VA, formerly of Lorado, departed this life Monday, October 12, 2015, at Sentara Leigh Hospital at Norfolk, VA, after a long illness. He was born on April 8, 1953, at Logan, the son of the late Basil Ray and Lora Ferrell Jeffrey. Grant was a disabled maintenance mechanic at Norfolk Navel Base. He honorably served in the Army National Guard for 17 years. Grant was a 1972 graduate of Man High School and was a member of the Pineville, WV masonic lodge. He enjoyed watching Nascar and football on television and loved spending time with his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Mary Ellen Brunty Jeffrey; three children, Tonda (Michael) Knobling and Kenny Grimmett, both of VA, and Marvin (Beverly) Jeffrey of WV; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Whitney, Harley, Katherine, Kaleb, Kirsten, and Gunnar; one great-grndson, Christian; two sisters, Gertie Moore and Anna (Terry) Monreal; one brother, Robert (Dena) Harless; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2015, at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill where military honors will be conducted by the Army National Guard, VFW Post 6153 and American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville and DAV Post 39 of Harts. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man. Pall bearers will be family and friends.
