Obituary of Charles Edward Santrock
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Edward "Charlie" Santrock, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 8, 2024, leaving Welch Community Hospital after a short illness.
He was born on September 16, 1940, at Hewitt Creek, a son of the late Charles Robert and Lura (Burgess) Santrock.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Connie Santrock Cook and Sue Santrock.
Charlie was the retired owner and operator of SC&L Trucking. He was a Christian for many years who loved the Lord and enjoyed singing gospel music. Charlie loved his family above all earthly possessions. He enjoyed spending time in his garage building and fixing his own equipment. Charlie will long be remembered for teaching his family and friends how to be strong-willed and work hard. He also taught many people how to get a start in life. Charlie put great value on friendship and helping others. Papaw Charlie also taught Danielle how to dance, and they spent many happy hours gettin' down.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving, devoted wife of 55 years, Shirley Ann (Graham) Santrock; one daughter, Lisa Ann Santrock-Perry and her husband Jim Ed of Davin; one granddaughter, Danielle Perry of Davin; one great-grandson, J.D. Perry of Davin; a special nephew, Archie Caldwell Jr. and his wife, Cary Caldwell of Cyclone; his best friend, Jack Mangus of Smith Mtn., VA; a special neighbor, Ron Scarberry of Davin; along with a host of other close friends and relatives.
