Obituary of Dorothy Mangus
Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dortha “Dorothy” Mangus, 90, of Greenvalley, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on July 20th, 2024, after a long illness.
She was born on February 21, 1934, at Wharncliffe, to the late Ance Trent and Pearl Johnson Lester.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jennings Ray Mangus; two sons, Jenning (Eddie) Mangus and Clifford Lee Mangus; one daughter, Brenda Sue Perry; one sister, Bertha Lester; four brothers, Ralph Lester, Glen Lester, Danny Lester, and Thomas Trent; one great-granddaughter, Jaci Ray-Ann Mangus; and one great-great-grandson, Ashtyn Locklear.
Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind a remarkable example of a life well-lived, filled with love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to helping and caring for others. She found comfort and strength in her relationship with the Lord and attended the Davin Church of Christ before her health declined. She loved her family deeply and significantly cherished each and every one of her grandbabies, great-grandbabies, and great-great grandbabies who lovingly called her Nanny. She was always happy when her house was filled with those she loved, laughing and making memories together. Dorothy's legacy will live on through the countless lives she has touched and the lessons she imparted on those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Ernie and Kay Mangus, with whom she made her home in Greenvalley; Mike and Abby Mangus of Baisden; Phillip and Tina Mangus of Sissionville; 15 grandchildren, Shane Mangus, Chad Mangus of Man, Jarrett Mangus of Logan, Brad Mangus of Madison, Brandon Mangus of Madison, Shawn Mangus of Davin, Ernie Mangus Jr of Crosslanes, Anna Mangus, Ashley Mangus, Adraina Mangus all of Baisden, Todd Mangus of Holden, Adam Perry of Man, Phillip Allen of Sissionville, Connor of Sissionville, and Brittany Fault of Charles Towne. 21 great-grandchildren, Jaysn Woods of Athens, OH, Sgt.
