Obituary of Bernard Maynard
Please share a memory of Bernard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rev. Bernard Maynard Jr., 75 of Lyburn, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 12, 2024, leaving from the home of his son and daughter-in-law peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 26, 1949, in Logan County, the son of the late Bernard Campbell Maynard and Maggie Xena (Hatfield) Maynard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maggie Lou (Marcum) Maynard; grandson, Jacob Isaac Maynard; and his siblings, Vivian Perry, Donald Ellis, Sidney Maynard, Douglas Maynard, Lena May Adkins, and James Blunt.
Rev. Bernard made the biggest decision of his life in 1980 when he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized. About two years later, he was called by the Lord to preach the gospel and accepted the call. He loved the Lord more than anything. Bernard enjoyed time with his family, going to church when he was able, and talking about Jesus.
He also was a disabled coal miner who worked for Belva Coal Company for about 15 years. Rev. Bernard loved picking greens out of the mountains, canning, and camping. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are three sons, Timmy (Charlene) Maynard of Whitman, Joseph (Donna) Maynard of Taplin, and Jason Maynard (Samantha Bilanti) of Lyburn; one daughter, Kimberly (Rindy) Canterbury of Crown; seven grandchildren, Ashley Gerace, Grove (Brittany) Gerace, Brandon (Stephanie) Gerace, Courtney Maynard, Chad Scott Branham, Steven Dean, and Maggie Rose Canterbury; five great-grandchildren, Hayden Elkins, Cameron Gerace, Logan Gerace, Mackenzie Gerace, and Arabella Gator; one brother, Robert Maynard of NC; and one sister, Glenda Sue Bartram of Lyburn; a special brother of the heart, Richard Perry of Lyburn; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
