My uncle Paul gets credit for my first time fishing at a pond in West Virginia. What I remember most of that was a man across from us catching a huge catfish. My fondest memories of Paul though, will be the simple times sitting on the couch cracking a laugh at “Sea Bears,” on tv with him. It sounds silly but to me and my brother its a memory that will stay with us forever. We would sit and watch shows like mountain monsters not because we believed in mythical creatures like the devil dog, but because they were so ridiculous that we’d be crying tears of laughter. When I think of Paul I’ll think of being a little kid getting a kick out of the things we’d laugh. The “Sea Bear,” might just be a stupid made up creature out of a SpongeBob episode, but when I hear it, or my brother hears it, you might see us crack a huge smile, all thanks to my Uncle Paul.
