Obituary of William David Corns

William David Corns, age 72, of Stony Point, NC, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, after a short illness.
David was born December 30, 1951, in Logan Co. WV, the son of the late William Bernard Corns and Mercedes Faye Bailey Corns. He was a graduate of Man High School, class of 1969.
He was a member of Claypool United Methodist Church in Davin, WV. His life’s work was as a coal miner for more than 25 years. He was a member of the UMWA. He spent an additional 12 years employed as a mechanic for Brushy Mountain Golf Course in NC. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved his family including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always made time for his family and friends.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include: his wife, Glenna Laxton Corns; his daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Jean Timmons (Ben) of Auburn Twp, OH; his sons, David Michael “Bruiser” Corns (Ann) of Huntington, William Joseph “Joey” Corns (Amanda) of Man, James Stephen Martin (Donna) of Conover, NC, Larry Eugene Martin ( Heather) of Jonesville, NC; his sister, Angel Dawn Bodnar (David) of Sissonville, his brothers, Clyde Leonard Corns II (Cathy) of Winfield, Gary Lee Corns (Wendy) of Logan, Timothy Everette Corns (Jackie) of Davin, Orval Lee Davis of Davin; a total of 16 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends survive.
David was preceded in death by his loving sister, Jennifer Starr Corns Davis and his baby brother, Gregory Ray Corns.
The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Claypool United Methodist Church, 3635 Huff Creek Hwy. Davin, WV. His brother, Gary Lee Corns, and Pastor Tim Shuff will officiate.
