David Edward Bragg
of Accoville, WV
David Edward Bragg, 69, of Accoville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 27, 2015, from his residence surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born December 11, 1945, at Glen Alum, the son of the late James Oliver, Sr. and Barbara Atkinson Bragg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Edgar and Lora Hutchinson Johnston; four brothers, Charles Richmond, Richard Richmond, James Bragg, Jr., and Joseph Bragg; one sister, Joyce Imes; one sister-in-law, Mae Lee Hager and her husband, Harry; four brothers-in-law, Howard Copley, Naamon Johnston, Dewey Bailey, and Mack Johnson and his wife, Perky.
David was an electrician for over 20 years who retired from Kenny Wayne Coal Company. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church. A proud Army veteran, David was a lifetime member of the Viet Nam Veterans Chapter 308 at Henlawson and the Disabled American Veterans Post 39 at Harts. He was an active volunteer in the community; ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, helping local schools with their veterans programs, and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. David enjoyed fishing and camping at his families' camp on the Greenbrier River and hunting with his brothers, son-in-law, and grandson. A dedicated family man, David loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He devoted most of his life to taking care of his grandchildren and enjoying their company.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Brenda Bragg; one daughter, Patty (Keith) Duncan of Accoville; three grandchildren, Savannah (Ben) Ellis of Fraziers Bottom, Brandon (Taylor) Duncan of Lyburn, and Keeley Duncan of Accoville; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Autumn Ellis; one great-grandson on the way, Baby Bo Duncan; one sister, Barbara Copley of Accoville; three brothers, Johnnie (Kay) Bragg of Accoville, Robert (Norma Jean) Bragg of White Sulphur Springs, and Tommy (Theresa) Solomon of Amherstdale; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tonnia Bragg, Sue and Richard Adkins, Don and Ida Spears, Linda Spencer, Betty Jo Bailey, Mary and Oscar Adkins, Betty Lou and Jim Evans, Bobby Imes, and Diane Richmond; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nicole Lackey-Dillon, Dr. Waris, Dignity Hospice and all of their staff for the kind compassionate care they gave to David.
