Obituary of Jack Smith
Please share a memory of Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elmer Douglas “Jack” Smith, 80, of Davin, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, leaving from his earthly home, after a short illness.
He was born on September 16, 1943, at Gilbert, the son of Martha Hazel (Bragg) Smith.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Smith; brother, Bobby Smith; and sister, Janet Smith.
As a young man, Jack was wild and rambunctious, that is until he met the love of his life Phyllis Hatfield and they married in 1976. Their union produced two loving sons, Kelly Jack and Joshua Jared. Jack was the greatest husband, father, and Poppy as well as his daughters-in-law’s Favorite. Devoted to his family, Jack was a good provider and protector. When his grandsons came along he took great pride in teaching them life skills and how to love unconditionally.
Jack made the most important decision of his life on December 25, 2023 when he accepted the Lord as his personal Savior.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Phyllis (Hatfield) Smith; two sons, Kelly Jack (Kim) Smith of Davin and Joshua Jared (Kayla) Smith of Davin; two grandsons who were the light of his life, Jaxon Ray Smith and Jase Michael Smith both of Davin; two sisters, Marcella (Ray) Foxx and Arella (Roy) Cline; five brothers, Carl Smith, Lowell (Sherry) Smith, Byron (Reva) Smith, and Lee (Susan) Smith; Sister-in-Law, Truby (Jackie) Thompson; Brother-in-Law, Homer Blankenship, and a special family friend, Jeanie Rice; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
A Memorial Service will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Homer Blankenship officiating.
In honor of Jack’s wishes his remains have been cremated.
