Obituary of Dewey Donzel Trent

Dewey Donzel Trent of Elk Creek, WV Dewey Donzel Trent, 78, of Elk Creek, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2015, leaving from St. Francis Hospital at Charleston, after a long illness. He was born on December 19, 1936, at Greenville, the son of the late Dewey and Stella Grimmette Trent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Hubert and Hulan Trent, Magdalene Altizer, Lena Hatfield, and Arbadella Justice. Donzel was a surface mine driller who retired from Arch of WV. He was a member of the UMWA local 5958. Donzel was a christian. Devoted to his family, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Christine Griffith Trent; one son, Britt (Amy) Trent of Elk Creek; three grandchildren, Britt Chantz Trent, Conner Zane Trent, and Olivia Jade Trent; one step-grandchild, Michael Sorrell; three sisters, Sondra Cozart, Jean Story, and Linda Browning; five brothers, Dolan, Reed, Doug, Marshall, and Walter Trent; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle at Hunt with Rev. Baxter Toler officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also.
