Obituary of Clark Necessary
Please share a memory of Clark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Clark Necessary, known as Clark, 64, was born on July 25, 1959, at Man to the late Pierce Necessary and Gladie Adkins Necessary. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at his home in Lorado, following a year of medical treatment for mouth cancer. He had reached the cancer-free milestone and seemed well on his way to recovery. His last year was spent in Morgantown while undergoing treatment, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Joe and Izzy, the whole time.
Clark had a long career in the mining industry, working for several companies, and retired from Coronado Coal LLC as a Central Plant Operator. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Aracoma Lodge No. 99, Logan. He was an avid gun collector and builder and enjoyed hunting and fishing, including his annual trip to deer camp. However, all that took a backseat to his passion for his only child, Jill, and his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Clark was preceded in death by his sisters Sandra Necessary and Shirley Necessary, his grandparents John and Ada Necessary and Robert and Emma Adkins, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Clark is survived by daughter Jill, her husband Josh and children Joe and Izzy, of Morgantown; Brother Calvin Necessary and his wife Charlene of Robinette; nephew Michael Necessary and his wife Holly and son Pierce of Lewisburg; niece Whitney Tignor and her husband Shawn and their children Aiden and Erin of Charleston; nephew Devin Smoot and his wife Kaylea and their children Rose and Skylar of Staunton VA; brother-in-law Darby Smoot and his wife Cathy, of Staunton VA, and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Clark had previously arranged to donate his body to WVU for medical research, but once he had the chemotherapy, that was no longer an option. So, in accordance with his last will and testament, his body has been cremated. There will be no services. His ashes will be interred with his parents’ and sisters’ graves at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Glen Adkins, Willie Gambill, Bob Graham, Kelly Samson and, his family, his medical team, and all his friends at Harmony Assisted Living in Morgantown for the friendship and assistance shown to Clark.
