Perry French Harvey, Jr.
Of Crown, WV
Perry French Harvey, Jr., 74, of Crown, went peacefully to his home in Heaven on Sunday, June 4, 2023, leaving from his earthly home, surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness.
He was born on December 30, 1948, at Stowe, the son of the late Perry French Sr. and Olivia Blanche (Burns) Harvey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Miller; and three brothers, Paul Harvey, Eddie Harvey, and Roger Harvey.
Perry was a 1967 graduate of Man High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Perry was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA District 17 where he also served as a field representative for the UMWA. He loved to help connect widows and families with UMWA and Veterans Administration resources that were available to them. Perry loved serving his community and was a founding member of the Buffalo Creek Watershed Association, a member of the Man Quarterback Club and a founding member of the Man High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.
He was currently attending the Campus Church of God and had been faithfully serving the Lord for the last twenty years. Perry was a people person who never met a stranger. He loved his porch talks with family, friends, and passers by who stopped to talk. An avid outdoorsman, Perry enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends at his Monroe County farm. He instilled his love for the outdoors into his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Lola (Brumfield) Harvey; four children, Susan (Lindsey) Whited of Kistler, Debbie (Rev. Donald) Lafferty of Kistler, Kim (Jon) Trent of Wilkinson, Chris (Lavana) Harvey of Tampa, FL; 10 grandchildren, Adrianne (Bruce) Fowler of Memphis, TN, Loren (Justin) Sammons of Kistler, Lindsey (Adam) Copley of Claypool, Ryan (Kaeli) Lafferty and Justin (Jen) Lafferty, both of Nashville, TN, Tyler Lafferty of Charleston, Christina (Quentin) Andre de l’Arc of Raleigh, NC, Chase Trent of Holden, Brianna Harvey, and Bailey Harvey, both of Tampa, FL; 12 great-grandchildren, Laycee, Bruce, Gage, Adilee, Mason, Myles, Myla, Annie, Paisley, Emery, Brooks, Nora, and Oliver; his life long friend who was like a brother, Eddie (Liz) Tackett many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
