David Cochran
of Mallory, WV
David Cochran, 78, entered Heaven’s gates on Monday, February 20, 2023.
He was born on August 8, 1944, at Mallory, the son of the late Millard and Garnet (Walls) Cochran.
In addition to his parents, David was reunited with his sons, Matthew David Cochran and Justin Wright Cochran; and his siblings, Donald Ray Cochran who died in the Korean War; Lonnie and Betty Cochran, Edith (John) Waddel, Ruth (Shade) Adams, Kenneth Cochran, and Phyllis Jean Elgin.
David was a lifelong resident of Mallory. He was a 1963 graduate of Man High School, where he was inducted into the Man High School Football Hall of Fame. He attended Beckley College and served in the Army National Guard.
David was always active and enjoyed working. He began his career with Hamer Lumber Co. in Man. Then he worked for Belva Coal Company and Chafin Coal Company before starting his own business, Evergreen Reclamation which he operated for 35 years before his retirement.
Besides working, David loved listening to Gospel Music. He attended many gospel sings and collected albums signed by the artist that recorded them. David also loved attending the gospel sings hosted at the local area Churches. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Man.
His other interests were antique cars and airplanes which gave him the opportunity to meet people and make many friends.
David’s family gave him his greatest joy. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Jody Cochran the former Betty Jo Wright; his daughter, Tracy Ann (Justin) Spence; grand-daughter, Morgan Taylor Spurlock; grandsons, Ethan Kane Spence and Mason Ryan Spence; his brother, Millard (Sue) Cochrane of Hunt, and brother-in-law, Andrew Elgin of Springboro, OH; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
