Obituary of Anita Hope Doss

Anita Hope Doss, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 18, 2022. She was born at Mallory, WV on July 3, 1934 to the late Clarissa and Hugh Cashion. Anita was a 1953 graduate of Man High and a Marshall University graduate. She was hired as the first librarian at Buffalo Creek Memorial Library and served there for 27 years. Anita enjoyed reading, traveling, and hiking in the mountains of West Virginia. She loved spending time with her family. Anita was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 72 years, Kenneth Doss; her 2 sons, Alan and Jeff (Terri) Doss; 2 grandchildren, Ethan (Erika) Doss and Jane (Joshua) Maher; and 2 great grandchildren, Eli and Ella Doss. Anita had wonderful caretakers who were so special. The family will be forever grateful to Hope Browning, Drema Ray, Karen Story, Hope Johnson, and Melissa Tackett for the loving care they provided. Additionally, many thanks to Lindsey and Susan Whited, Jaclyn Bailey, and Ashley Lewis from Dignity Hospice for always going above and beyond. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dignity Hospice in honor of Anita. There will be a private family celebration of her life.
