Harless and family came to pastor our church at Elk Lick when I was about 13 years old. I will always remember his enthusiasm and positive attitude. A few memories of their family include Harless jokingly leaving the drivers seat of our antique church bus while we were traveling down the highway (going to youth camp I believe), little Johnathan deciding to leave home and walking to my parents house about a mile away, Claudia laughing and saying I looked like Jim Bob Walton driving my dad’s old tractor down the road, and one particular sermon entitled “when is it wrong to tell the truth”. The Cook family left only good memories here. Enough about memories. What about the future? May I remind you this is not the end but rather the beginning. Soon we will all be together in a perfect place, in perfect health, in perfect peace, in perfect love. Forever! Remembering to pray for your encouragement until then

My heart is broken. I got to know Harless in the summer of 2006 when I became the assistant principal of Man Middle School. We instantly hit it off. He quickly became my closest colleague, my golfing buddy, most of all, my friend. He never had a negative thing to say toward anything or anyone. He was always friendly to my 2 boys when he would see them. He bought my oldest a Tom and Jerry DVD once because he knew they watched them. Even when he moved on to the board’s office to work we still would sit and talk whenever we got the chance. He was one of a kind. I know he loved his family more than anything because he would always talk about them to me. We’ll my friend….you’ve fought the fight, kept the faith, and finished the course. A crown of life you’ve most certainly won. I can’t wait for the day to be able to sit and talk to you again. Until then…..I’ll see you soon my friend!
